TOO GAY FOR GOD?

BBC One.

TX July 2019

As an ordained Deacon in the Church of England, and a proudly out gay man who wants to get married and settle down with his partner, The Reverend Jide Macaulay is setting out to understand why he can’t get married and remain a priest: is it really the case that this seems to be a privilege enjoyed by straight members of the clergy alone, rather than a right for all? In this authored film Jide explores the position of the LGBTIQ+ community within the Church of England and other Christian denomination, meeting people who have views on, and personal experience of, this complex and sensitive issue including a scholar of scripture to ask just what the Church’s doctrinal issues on sexuality really are.
